Murtoa Silo Art
MURTOA SILO ART
By day a striking piece of photo realism by mural artist SMUG and by night experience the transformation into a lit and ANIMATED meaningful work of art by Dave Jones of Transcience.
WHY THE BIRDS?
Inspiration was drawn from the ‘James Hill Taxidermy Collection’ and Dr John Cade’s discovery, the use of Lithium to treat bipolar disorder. Both were former residents of Murtoa.
The ‘James Hill Taxidermy Collection’ of over 600 birds, eggs, reptiles and mammals are on display on the ground floor of the old Water Tower, Museum Precinct, just across the road! See facebook for open times.
The glowing White Bird on the silo represents the freedom and peace for sufferers of bipolar that Dr Cade achieved from his discovery and development.
WHERE & WHEN IS THE BEST VIEW?
The best view of the Silo art is directly across the road from the Museum’s Water Tower, Soldiers Ave, Murtoa.
For a great photo, full sun on the Silo occurs mid to late afternoon, depending on the season.
The lit and ANIMATED show begins on sunset and runs for two hours every night. The animated loop lasts for 10 minutes.
